The name Woodbury comes from the name of Levi Woodbury, first Justice of the Supreme Court to attend law school. Two of the main employers in the city are retail centers Tamarack Village and Woodbury Village apart from The Hartford, Woodwinds Health Campus and EcoWAter systems.
The community is home to a number of parks, most of which are located around the city’s three largest lakes: Colby, Wilmes and Powers. For athletic events, there is the Beilenberg Sports Center and it is home to softball, baseball, football, sand volleyball and ice skating events. The city is also home to two major golf courses, Preswick and Eagle Valley. The city hosts a number of events every year, including Woodbury Days which is celebrated by almost every intuition in the city, from schools, to churches to business establishments. The celebration is marked by live music, fireworks and various booths. Another cultural attraction worth a visit is the historic Heritage house.
