Riding a trishaw or a becak is one of the best ways to get around the city. It is a traditional three-wheeled cart pedaled by locals. Medium sized buses however, can get you around the city much faster.
Kraton Ngayogyakarta, the sultan’s palace, is the city’s most known heritage site. Touring the Kraton complex will provide travelers an idea of the luxurious lifestyle that the sultan and his family lived. The complex is open from 8am to 1pm daily except on Fridays when it closes earlier at 11am. Entrance fee for tourists is at Rp 12500 and includes the tour guide fee.
Art aficionados may be interested in visiting Dirgantara, Sonobudoyo or the Kekayon Museums. Other Yogyakarta landmarks includes the ancient temples of Candi, Bank Indonesia building and the Kantor Pos Besar.
