Western Australia is an immense landmass, the largest state of Australia and posesses a rich variety of natural phenoma - from the resource rich north and east to the beaches of Fremantle, Perth and Monkey Mia to the West. WA is a land of 4 wheel drive adventure, mountains, ranges, deserts, beaches and rivers. Leave the hustle of Perth, the states capital and enter the vast open planes of Kalgoorie and Esperence to the desert west of the state. Closer to Perth, visit the Margaret River and Fremantle for a romantic wine tour, winery accommodation or a beach experience. Exmouth, Tom Price, Broome and Kunurra all lie to the remote north of the state.
Firstly, the captal Perth, a small city with a unique and prosperous charm. On the banks of the Swan River, Perth is a postcard setting, with art galleries, restaurants and tourist trails galore. Transport is easy with plenty of buses and trains from the city centre and a wide choice of accommodation - hotels, hostels and more. A must visit is Cottseloe or Scarbourgh, home to a distinctly vibrant beach culture. Fremantle, also in Perth, is a coastal town with famous heritage buildings and a facinating convict history. Rottnest Island is also worth a visit for the eco adventure enthusiast - with white sand beaches, snorkelling and a facinating history full of old colonial buildings and an Aboriginal prison.
Away from Perth and to the South West await the romantic wineries and honeymoon accommodation of the Margaret River. Fine food, wine and unparalled surfing are all top features of WA's south west. Nearby towns include Busselton, Augusta, Bunbury and Pemberton.
To the north lies the Coral Coast and Monkey Mia, featuring beautiful beaches and rich marine life - including Whales, Dolphins and Sea Lions. Top places to visit nearby include Carnarvon, Coral Bay and the Ningaloo Marine Park.
Further North, towards one of the most remote areas in the world, you will find Kunurra and the Cockburn Ranges, where El Questro Lodge and the scene of Baz Lhurmanns movie 'Australia' feature. WA's north is known for its range of accommodation options, from outback stations, motels and camp sites to luxury 5 star resorts and lodges. Experience Western Australia, the great land to the west.
